On Monday, Alibaba's Executive Chairman Jack Ma met up with US President-elect Donald Trump to discuss the e-commerce company's newest plan to help small US businesses use the platform to reach Chinese consumers within the next five years.

According to the company's spokesman Bob Christie in an phone call statement reported by Reuters, Alibaba expects the initiative to generate a million US jobs as each business who use the platform adds a position in their roster.

The meeting was held at Trump Tower in New York and according to the president-elect, the two had a "great meeting" and looks forward to their future collaboration. Ma, on the other hand, said that the president-elect is "smart" and "open-minded." He also remarked that they discussed how they can support small businesses, especially in the Midwest.

Ma said that Alibaba will be able to assist businesses such as farmers and small clothing makers in the US and reach the Chinese market direct with the help of the platform.

Ma also said, "We mainly talked about small business and young people and American agriculture products to China. And we also think, that the China and US relationship should be threatened, should be more friendly."
