On Wednesday, Facebook Inc. started its "Journalism Project" which the company hopes will help boost their relationship with news organizations worldwide.

The announcement comes less than a week after the company announced they will be hiring former CNN correspondent, anchor and host Campbell Brown to head the company's news partnerships team.

The project would focus on improving the social media network's storytelling formats such as Live, 360 and Instant Articles.

Facebook is currently testing a feature using Instant Articles which would allow readers to see multiple stories at one time, as a package, from their favorite news organizations. The company said that they will be working with third-party organizations to promote "news literacy" and help users decide which sources are trustworthy and would continue removing hoax news which are shared throughout the social networking site.

Facebook has been receiving several criticism in the past few months regarding fake news stories, especially during the time of the US presidential elections.

In a blog post, Facebook's director of product Fidji Simo said "We care a great deal about making sure that a healthy news ecosystem and journalism can thrive."

Facebook has also announced on Wednesday that it would explore the introduction of advertising breaks in regular videos. They have already tested the ad format for Facebook Live.
