Nowadays, mass media tends to create the stereotype on what should be the target of every person in terms of their body image. People are given models to copy, advertisements to consider and products that promises to help one boost their physical appearance. However, with these pressures shown everyday, many people tend to lose their self-worth and eventually feel like they are inadequate both inside and out. One is made to think that we are not perfect and unattractive to others.

While it is not wrong to wish to look attractive, there is a danger in focusing on just one's appearance as it may affect how others perceive our identities. What is actually important is how God sees us.

The Bible always stresses that God values us and sees the real us beyond what our physical appearances suggests. When one may ask Him regarding their appearance, God would look at us and calls us "very good."

If you find yourself still questioning your self-worth, here are some passaages to remember.

1.  We were made in God's image

In Genesis 1:27, it tells us that we were created in God's image: "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them."

Although we were stained by sin and had been degraded by it, Christ helped us become whole again through His sacrifice. With His sacrifice, we are remade in the likeness of God through Christ's help.

2.  We are God's masterpiece

God created man one by one as if He handcrafted each person with different appearances, personalities and missions. We are all his masterpieces.

Ephesians 2:10 tells us, "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them."

3.  We are wonderfully made

When God made us, He wonderfully and carefully crafted us to be unique. Everything we see in the mirror, God made us this way and there is no error whatsoever.

In Psalm 139:14, the psalmist says this, "I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well."

4.  Jesus helped restore us

We all know that Christ paid for the restoration of our spirits with his sacrifice. But what we didn't know is the fact he also did the same for our physical selves. When Jesus died, he did it for our physical wholeness.

In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, it says, "Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body."
