The Joyful Candlelight Fellowship of Beijing Congwenmen Church visited a cancer patient seeking treatment from Handan of Hebei on June 4, 2017, according to a brother of the fellowship.

Cheng Jianhua, who lives in a rented apartment near a hospital with her husband and sister is waiting to be hospitalized.

Her elder sister Cheng Jianying, who is a Christian, worried about her diagnosis of colorectal cancer that has spread to the pelvic cavity and caused shadows on the liver. However, she is a non-Christian. The Christian sister wished that she could accept the Gospel and pray the sinner's prayer because of the visit.

Amazingly, her wish was fulfilled.

Knowing her condition, believers from the fellowship preached the Gospel to her.  A sister, who was once a cancer patient and now looks healthy, witnessed with her own experience. Her testimony inspired Cheng. Another sister shared her conversion; how God melted her cold heart with His love until she offered herself to the Lord. She, who works in a hospital, also witnessed that there is a decided difference between patients who accept the Gospel and ones who don't during treatment and postoperative recovery. It showed Cheng that what she needed the most was joy and peace like Christians.

Hearing these testimonies, she was so moved that she wanted to accept Jesus as her savior. A sister led her in the sinner's prayer and the visit ended with a prayer for God's blessings for Cheng.

The Joyful Candlelight Fellowship is a fellowship of people who have recovered from cancer. They help patients walk through painful treatment on the basis of their personal experiences with the illness and faith journeys. Later, some healthy Christians joined it. It aims to serve those patients who have severe diseases.

In the past decade more than 70 volunteers have engaged in the patient care and visitation ministry. It has assisted over one hundred cancer patients, including over thirty terminal patients. It is estimated that eighty percent of patients who receive long-term visitation convert to Christianity.
