The Hong Kong government gave a grant worth HK$434,000 to the Amity Foundation in Hong Kong on Wednesday to assist the flood relief work in South China. The fund will be used to supply food for 1000 affected households in Longsheng County of Guangxi.

Last August the government also donated a fund of HK$6.3 million to the Amity Foundation in Hong Kong for providing relief to the flood affected areas in South China.

After the floods hit partial provinces in south China since June 23, the Amity Foundation has paid attention to the development of the floods and organized local partners to carry out the evaluation in affected areas according to its official news updates.

On Monday, the organization distributed 500 mosquito coils and 7500 kilos of rice to 600 affected families living in Weixin County, Zhaotong, Yunnan. Rice of the same weight will be recently dispensed to 500 affected families in a county of Guilin, Guangxi. Currently, the needs assessment and research are underway in a district and five counties of Guilin, as well as two cities and a county of Hunan.

Torrential rain batters central and southern provinces since June 23, resulting in floods, landslides and hailstorms that hit eight provinces including Anhui, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, and Guizhou.
