Actress Alyssa Milano started a Twitter campaign which encourages women to speak up about sexual harassment.

The 44-year-old American actress took to Twitter on Sunday and asked anyone who has ever been sexually harassed or assaulted to respond with her message with the word "me too."

"If you've been sexually harassed or assaulted write 'me too' as a reply to this tweet," the American actress wrote on Twitter. According to Milano, she has borrowed the idea behind the campaign of her friend.

"Suggested by a friend: "If all the women who have been sexually harrassed or assaulted wrote 'Me too.' as a status, we might give people a sense of the magnitude of the problem," she wrote.

"Will and Grace" star Debra Messing and Anna Paquin were among of those who responded to the post and wrote, "me too."

"Being raped once made it easier to be raped again. I instinctually shut down. My body remembered, so it protected me. I disappeared. #metoo', " "Westworld" actress Evan Rachel Wood also tweeted.

Lady Gaga,  who also previously revealed she was raped at the age of 19, showed her support to the campaign and tweeted, "me too."

Milano was also noted to have spoken against women's sexual harassment just like the case with Harvey Weinstein, who have been reported to have harassed a lot of women for few decades.

"While I am sickened and angered over the disturbing accusations of Weinstein's sexual predation and abuse of power, I'm happy - ecstatic even - that it has opened up a dialogue around the continued sexual harassment, objectification and degradation of women," she said about it.
