Memorial Service for Two Chinese Preachers Killed by ISIS Held in Wuhan Church

A memorial service for two preachers, Meng Li Si and Li Xinheng, killed in Pakistan by ISIS was held in a Wuhan Church on Nov. 4, according to WeChat account "Horn of Grace and Faith".

The attendants packed the church, and including the preachers' families and representatives from churches across China. Representatives from the church in Wenzhou were there and expressed condolences to the families.

The picture provided by the WeChat account showed that there were at least 200 participants.

The responsible person has maintained sound communications with their families and follow-up affairs are under negotiation.Their hometown churches are planning funeral services for them.

On Nov. 2, 2017, a Pakistan delegation accompanied by Chinese officials brought the cremated remains of the two preachers to China and handed them over to their families.

Born in 1991 and 1993, Meng and Li, whose Pakistan names were Musa and Dawood, studied in a Wenzhou academy that trains missionaries in 2016. That November they went to Zhenna Town of Quetta, the capital city of Baluchistan province in Pakistan, with other eleven other young preachers, through a Korean mission society. They worked in a language training center opened by the society and studied Urdu to learn local customs for evangelization.

The institute's leaders were the Seo Jun Wons, a Korean missionary couple who lived locally for four years.

On May 24, the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan confirmed the kidnapping of Meng and Li in Quetta. AFP reported that the Chinese couple was kidnapped while dining with another Chinese woman in a local restaurant.

On June 8, 2017, Reuters reported that Islamic State killed them.
