On Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang reported that South Korean President Moon Jae-in will be visiting next week from December 13 to 16.

In the report of Xinhua, it does not detail why the visit will be done, but does come in at a time where the tensions in the Korean peninsula are heightened with the recent North Korean missile test.

The diplomatic relations between South Korea and China has been bad in recent months due to the deployment of the US anti-missile system in South Korea. The system was deployed due to the growing number of missile launches done by North Korea and to defend South Korea. China has been against the deployment due to the capacity of its radars in looking into other countries, namely China.

However, last month, both countries have agreed to mend their relationship and slowly engaged into negotiations. Some bans related to the anti-missile system was also raised.
