On Saturday, the China Opera Festival 2017 is scheduled to begin in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province as part of the regular opera festivals launched by the Ministry of Culture and local governments nationwide to feature locally made opera titles.

In this year's festival, at least 23 operas from across the mainland would be featured and will be performed across Jiangsu province such as Nanjing, Xuzhou and Yixing. Lectures would also be conducted for free regarding opera and the various operas included in the festival.

Several opera titles included in this year's performance were adapted from real-life events such as the Chinese revolution, historical biographies and events. Western operas also inspired the other operas in the list.

At least eight of the 23 operas in this year's lineup will focus on Modern Chinese opera.

For anyone interested to watch this year's performance, tickets start at 20 yuan to 120 yuan. At least 60% percent of these tickets are going to be priced around 60 yuan.
