The ocean is known to be filled with all kinds of wonderful and even weird creatures, for example, the very odd and elusive viper shark were recently caught by some fishermen in Taiwan.

The viper sharks or viper dogfish are considered as rare species of shark that was identified in 1986 at the coast in japan. These elusive fishes are rarely seen swimming in the waters of japan, Taiwan and Hawaii. They feed mostly on bony fish, impaling them with their sharp teeth before swallowing the food whole.

The viper sharks have distinctive black markings on their underside which glow during dark, and contain large numbers of light producing photophores.

According to Taiwan News, scientists fishing off the coast of Taitung County managed to catch five of these fishes during a survey but unfortunately none of these survived.
