A two-day retreat for 51 preachers from Kunshan, Jiangsu, was held in Wuzhen, Tongxiang, Zhejiang.

Rev. Wen Xingui, chairman of the Kunshan TSPM, exhorted the participants to have vision in the opening ceremony. The activities included praise and worship, a morning prayer meeting, and lectures.

Rev. Shi Chengzhong, chairman of the Nantong TSPM, delivered a lecture titled "A Probe into the Sinicization of Christianity from the Perspectives of the Christian History and Contemporary Chinese Development". He listed the praise Paul and the contemporaneous renowned theologians gave to social philosophy of the time during the Hellenization of Christianity and demonstrated the importance of the sinicization of Christianity.

Talking about the indigenization movement and the Three-Self Patriotic Movement, Rev. Shi said that the sinicization of Christianity was the only way to promote Christianity in China. He proposed that sacred music, robes, and church buildings should be made in the Chinese style.

On the next day, the speaker stated that a qualified preacher should have seven consciousnesses, like the awarenesses of politics, the overall situation, discipline, and hardship.
