26 volunteers from the Shanghai and Taichung YMCA held a five-day summer camp for 90 students from a primary school for migrant worker's children on July 3 in Shanghai.
Brother Xu, the head of the camp, told CCD that the YMCA has served the elementary schools for migrant children since 2012 with the aim to care rural children, provide voluntary platforms for middle-school-students and undergraduates, as well as to promote cross-Strait communication.
During the camp, the volunteers engaged in games with the children and taught them character and artistic lessons including drawing and singing.
He added that it was very helpful despite fact that the time was short.
The previous feedbacks show that children have changed in action, characters, personal management and started caring for others. They also started to respond to their parents' love. Schools welcome this kind of activity too as it helps them teach the children.
