Ten Bible Passages to Help With Controling Emotions
By Elsie Hu, November 16, 2017 07:11 AM
People have emotions. Emotions are affected by other people or the outside world. People laugh when they feel happy and cry when they are sad.
However, not all feelings are good. For example, if anger develops in its own way it will lead to bitter fruit. The Bible never forbids anger. But pay attention because the devil tempts people to sin through anger, so it is necessary to control this emotion.
Below are ten Bible passages on mastering emotion:
Ephesians 4:26-27 "In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold.
Matthew 7:3-5 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."
Romans 12:21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Proverbs 19:11 A person's wisdom yields patience; it is to one's glory to overlook an offense.
Colossians 4:6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
Proverbs 22:4 Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life.
Psalm 37:8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret-it leads only to evil.
Ecclesiastes 7:9 Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools.
Proverbs 15:18 A hot-tempered person stirs up conflict, but the one who is patient calms a quarrel.
James 1:19-20 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.
