Until the afternoon of February 12, the 6.7-magnitude earthquake that struck southern Taiwan has caused 95 deaths, 550 injuries and 92 missing. According to Gospel Times, Christians in mainland China participate in the rescue effort by praying and donating.

On February 6, Shandong CCC&TSPM appealed to the Christians in the whole province for praying earnestly for the Kaohsiung victims. Through the online platform wechat, the allpealing says "upon the arrival of the Spring Festival, our compatriots in Taiwan were hit by the earthquake misfortunately... Regardless of the distance or closeness, we are all God's children. May God look on and grant mercy to His children. May God comfort people who lost relatives and who are wandering. May God save people suffering from pain. In front of the disaster let's strive for helping and aiding them. May God bless and guard Kaohsiung after the disaster. "

On evening of February 7, Beijing Congwenmen Church held a special praying meeting for Taiwan disaster areas, asking God to hold people in Taiwan with His hands and to show compassion on them to minimize the death toll. "Whether they are Christians or non-Christians, we pray that God's mercy can be shown on them." Said the church.

The authority sent a condolence letter to Chinese Christian Cross-strait Communication Association and mobilized the churches in Fujian Province to pray and donate for Taiwan through church activities like sermons, retreats, Sunday services or business fellowships. Local Christians and churches in Nanping, Quanzhou, Fuzhou, Xiamen and Putian showed a warm response.
