The Shanghai Agape Foundation (SAF), Shanghai Philanthropic Foundation (SPF), and the Children's Hospital of Shanghai together launched "Love Smile Poverty Relief Fund" on May 18.

According to Rev. Shen Xuebin, chairman of the TSPM of Shanghai and Deputy Director of the SAF, the fund was established to help children with cleft lips or cleft palates from financially challenged families. Liu Qiaolin, secretary general of the SPF, also said that despite the difference in faith of the two foundations, they shared a goal: to show love to these children and their families.

The Fund will donate a total of 1.5 million RMB (roughly US $217,615) over three years for treatment. It also provides a new model for the operation of charity, useful for different religious organizations to join forces for building a long term mechanism to serve society.

Deputy Director Liu Haifeng of the Children's Hospital of Shanghai, Elder Chen Zhimin, and Secretary General Liu Qiaolin signed the donation agreement on behalf of the three organizations.
