The 2017 Philanthropy Innovation Summit took place in Nanjing on the second Chinese Charity Day, held on September 5, 2017. The conference was sponsored by the United Front Work Department of Jiangsu Province with the assistance of the Amity Foundation, China Charity Alliance, and the magazine China Philanthropist. About one hundred social organizations and companies and over twenty mainstream media outlets attended it.

The summit marked the first official large-scale meeting on charity since China's first charity law came into force on September 1, 2016. Its purpose was to promote charity and cooperation between government and society and to build a platform for companies to engage in public welfare and charity.

Thanks to long-term innovation, a group of influential public welfare organizations including the Amity Foundation have formed and brand activities have occurred in Jiangsu, one of the top provinces in comprehensive economic strength and innovation.

The organizers hoped that the summit could inspire innovation in public welfare undertakings, encourage the public and entrepreneurs to join in public interests, and share public spirit.
