The faith-based organization, Amity Foundation, launched an immediate response to the new round of COVID-19 which rages through Jilin Province.

Together with other public welfare platforms, including Xiaomi Foundation and Tencent Foundation, the foundation has been supplying virus protection supplies to the northeastern province.

Besides collecting resources from all parties, Amity on March 13 assisted medical staff with nucleic acid testing and epidemiological investigations, joining with a public welfare development center in Nanguan District, local social organizations and nearly 200 volunteers.

On March 15, the first batch of aid materials comprised of N95 medical masks and protective suits were distributed to four communities in Changchun City with the help of the volunteers and staff from the local public welfare development center, said Amity.

The next day, the charity provided protective clothing, disposable rubber gloves, protective shoe covers, and face screens to checkpoints for pandemic prevention and control in eight communities in Changchun City.

China Daily said that on Friday, mainland China detected 2,388 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, of which 1834 were in Jilin Province, according to the National Health Commission on March 18.
