Hong Kong Cornerstone Association has helped the people in Qinghai region with medical service at least five times this year. The beneficiaries are patients with a cleft lip and palate and hemiplegia.

On Sep 29 Hong Kong Cornerstone Association shared the 77 announcements on its website with the medical assistance to Qinghai. In March and June, the Cornerstone Association Medical Service Team performed repair surgeries for poor patients with cleft lips and palates. In June they performed surgeries on 28 children. In late July the association helped the children from March and June for postoperative oral training, and more than ten children from distant regions went to Xining for the training.

In May and on Sep 9-13, the association went to Qinghai Welfare Charity Hospital to give physical therapy for patients with hemiplegia. Secretary Zhang Yanyan first met Tibetans during her service for the Qinghai Yushu earthquake victims. Over the years she met some more in her service in Xining. She posted some knowledge about Tibetans in the announcement.

"Beautiful" was Zhang's first impression about the Qinghai Tibetans. Men or women they all have strong profiles. Even with dark skin, their cheeks were always red. Her second impression was that they were "Easily moved." The Tibetans that Zhang met loved to share their stories, how they felt, and they were very easily moved by small things. For example, a mother brought a child with a cleft lip and palate that she found on the street for medical help. When she learned the child was healed she hugged the volunteer and was drenched in tears. The third impression was "Religious belief." Generally speaking, Tibetans believe in Tibetan Buddhism and temples are all over Tibetan areas. Every household has a figure of Buddha. The belief is closely connected with the life and society of the Tibetan people.

The association has already made plans to visit Qinghai five times in 2017, and they are recruiting fellow workers to come along. The purposes of the 5 visits will be a free medical diagnosis, surgery, and rehabilitation. The times and place are Aril 9-15, May 9-13, June 11-17, Aug 27-Sep 2, and Oct 10-14 in Xining.

The association was established in 1994 with two service patterns: Great Commission-Evangelism (Matthew 28:18-20) to assist building and rebuilding of mainland churches; Great Commandment-Love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:37-40) to serve the mainland comrades with the love of Christ and assist the poverty alleviation and the development of social services.

The main serving regions of Hong Kong Cornerstone Association are Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan, Yunnan, Qinghai, and Guizhou. They serve a total of 8 provinces and over 40 cities and counties. They carry out diversified community construction, medical service, helping the poor, student scholarships, disaster assistance, building churches, developing community service, and other projects.
