The Yancheng CCC&TSPM held a symposium on the sinicization of Christianity from September 26 to 27, 2017.

A total of 118 people including the whole staff of the city-level CCC&TSPM, pastors of the city's churches,  seminary graduates, secretary generals of the county-level and district-level TSPMs, attended it. Leaders from the Yancheng's bureau of ethnic and religious affairs and directors of the administration of religious affairs at the county level were invited to join in the meeting.

The symposium was opened with the national anthem. Rev. An Xiaohui, chairman of the Yancheng TSPM, stated that "the sinicization of Christianity" was proposed by Christianity as a response to the development of the times and for its own growth, so we needed to attach importance to the work on the initiative.

Ji Fang, director of the city's Bureau of ethnic and religious affairs, addressed that the statement made by General Secretary Xi Jinping on sticking to the sinicizitional direction of China religions provided a direction for the sinicization of Christianity. He demanded that the pastoral staff should understand the meaning of the sinicization of Christianity, make clear the basic requirements, and explore practical ways to realize the goal.

The symposium received 27 papers, 11 of which formed into a book. The paper evaluation team of the Yancheng CCC&TSPM announced awards and issued certificates for awardees at the closing ceremony.
