On April 1, 2016, Nanjing Union Theological Seminary held the launching ceremony of the continuous construction of the Seminary Chapel.

The seminary began to build the church in 2006 and completed the principal part of the project in 2008. However, the follow-up project had been held up due to the shortage of fund. Until 2015, the enough money was raised with joint efforts.

After about one year's preparation, the school invited public bidding at February, 2016. It signed a contract with a professional construction company on March 16, 2016.

Rev. Chen Bin, the associate president of the seminary, presided the ceremony and related officials, pastors, teaching staff and graduates attended it.

Founded in 1952, NJUTS is the only one national Christian seminary in China. Over the past 60 years, the school has cultived about 2000 graduates, most of whom serve on the front line of the Chinese grass-root church across the 32 provinces, playing a significant role in promoting the sound development of churches in the Mainland.
