Guilin Christian Church was originally Guilin Baptist Church and it was first built in May 1912. The church is located at No.37 (previously 185) Zhongshan Middle Road, Shizijie Square in Guilin. The old church was destroyed during the Anti-Japanese War and it was rebuilt after victory in the War.

Before liberation, because of the denomination difference in Guilin Christianity, the main denominations were Christian and Missionary Alliance, Anglican Church, Baptists, Local Church, and Lutheranism. There were also Southwest Baptist University and Taidong Theological Seminary. There were two church hospitals: Anglican Church Daosheng Hospital (currently Guilin Women's and Children's Hospital) and Baptist Zion Hospital (currently Guilin Second People's Hospital).

At the beginning of liberation, all the pastoral people from different denominations responded to the call of the TSPM and eliminated the denominational prejudices. They united together and worshiped in the same Baptist Church.

During the Cultural Revolution in 1966, the church was occupied and the worship was forced to stop. On the Christmas of 1988, after the Cultural Revolution, the service officially resumed in Guilin Christian Church and continued until now.

Around 1992, because of the urban reconstruction and under the unified planning of the municipal government, the old church was sold to City Commercial Corporation to build the NIKKO NIKKO PLAZA. The company bought another site at No.50 (previously 456) Zhongshan Road and built the current church. The new church finished in October 1994. The church is in the gothic style and covers an area of 1309.9 square meters. The floor area is 747.4 square meters and the building area is 1828.5 square meters.

In November and December 2011 the church decorated the interior.

On May 27, 2012, the church hosted its 100th anniversary.
