Chinese are fond of blessings, longing to be blessed. During the Chinese New Year, Chinese people paste "fu" character upside down, claiming that it signifies that a blessing comes upon them.

However, do you know that the real blessing comes from the Lord who is the ruler of the universe? Blessings will come to us when we follow His rule. What's more, we who are blessed by God can be the channel of blessings to share the blessings of the gospel to more souls who desire them.

Here are ten Bible verses about blessings:

Genesis 1: 26-28 Then God said, "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
    So God created mankind in his own image,
    in the image of God he created them;
    male and female he created them.
God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

Genesis 12:1-3 The Lord had said to Abram, "Go from your country, your people and your father's household to the land I will show you.
  "I will make you into a great nation,
    and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
    and you will be a blessing.
   I will bless those who bless you,
    and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
    will be blessed through you."

Deuteronomy 28:1-6  If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God:
You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.
The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock-the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.
Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed.
You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.

Psalm 23:1-6  The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
       He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
       he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths for his name's sake.
    Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
    for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.
    You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
    Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Matthew 5:1-12 Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them.
He said:
  "Blessed are the poor in spirit,
    for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
   Blessed are those who mourn,
    for they will be comforted.
   Blessed are the meek,
    for they will inherit the earth.
   Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
    for they will be filled.
   Blessed are the merciful,
    for they will be shown mercy.
   Blessed are the pure in heart,
    for they will see God.
   Blessed are the peacemakers,
    for they will be called children of God.
    Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
    for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
    "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Luke 11:27-28 As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, "Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you." He replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it."

Galatians 3:13-14  Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole." He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.

Ephesians 6:1-3  Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother"-which is the first commandment with a promise-  "so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."

James 1:12-13 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;

Revelation 22:12-14  "Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.  I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
"Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city."
