On August 21, 2017, eight people from the staff of Shenzhen Bao'an Church gave 100,000 yuan to financially disadvantaged students in Yirong Town, Zijin County, Heyuan, Guangdong.
The grant distribution ceremony was presided over by Zou Zhiqiang, a member of the local party committee.
Rev. Jie Qiufu, the church's senior pastor, encouraged the sixty-one students to study hard and master learning skills and attitude, citing the growth story of Guo Degang, a Chinese comedian and cross-talk actor.
Then the grants were given to fourteen college students, seven high school students, and elementary and middle school students.
Zou sent a pennant to the church on behalf of the town and expressed the thanks felt by the parents of the students.
