The difference between Christians and non-Christians is that Christians have good characters and goodness from Christ after following Jesus. The ultimate goal for the earthy life of Christians is to bear the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

The twelve following Bible passages show us how to please God and live out the character of Christ in our lives:

Love:

John 13:34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."

1 John 4:7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

Faith:

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

2 Corinthians 5:7 For we live by faith, not by sight.

Humility:

Micah 6:8 He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Proverbs 22:4 Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life.

Holiness:

Exodus 19:6 "'You will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites."

Romans 12:1-2 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God-this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Honesty:

Proverbs 12:22 The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.

Ephesians 4:15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.

Good deeds:

Galatians 6:9-10 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
