The memorial service for Rev. Xu Enci, former president of the Nanjing CCC, was held in Nanjing Mochou Lu Church on March 25, 2018. It was presided over by Rev. Li Lancheng, the church's senior pastor.

Born in Nanjing in July 1930, Xu graduated from Nanjing Mingde Middle School and studied in the China Christian Seminary of Spirituality in 1953. After graduation from the seminary, she preached in Jiangsu until she was wrongly labeled as a bourgeois rightist in 1958. She received reform through labor for twenty years and then was rehabilitated. Back in Nanjing in 1978, Xu started to be responsible for the three-year restoration of Mochou Lu Church. She was ordained pastor in 1985 and pastored the church for a decade. Since 1987, the church's former senior pastor taught in Nanjing Union Theological Seminary for years and expertized in Bible reading.

After the retirement, despite the illness, she still trained pastoral workers and volunteers. She passed away aged 88 at her Nanjing home on March 22, 2018.

Xu Ming, her first daughter, shared that her mother became the channel of love to convey God's love to us. In the service, she invited all the participant to sing Xu's favorite song, saying that what her mother wanted to hear the most was the praising voice of God.

Xu's famous sayings were that "joy is the most beautiful thing, peace the most precious and a contented person the richest" and that "live this life for eternity". Those were the reality of her rough life.
