Every 8 o’clock in a Sunday evening, walking into center hall you'll see the Sacred Music class of the Panjin Christian Training Center. The music played by a certain boarder of the sacred music class is particularly loud. The sacred music class has been open for half a year.
What have the students learnt from it?
On the Monday morning, after morning prayers, there are only the old sisters and the students of the sacred music class left in the church. After breakfast, there rings the sound of piano practice playing in the church. There are altogether five pianos in the church and above the pianos on the wall hangs Jean and the practice schedule.
The students say “Monday is the day when the piano teacher checks everyone how well they practice playing the music and points out their problems.” As the teacher is checking one student, other students will wait patiently aside.
The brother who was first tested is brother Zhang. He is 43 and he grew up in the countryside without any knowledge of music. He was fascinated in playing the piano as soon as he started participating in the church choir. He slowly taught himself until he could play a song on the piano. When he heard the news that the sacred music class has begun accepting students, he decided to attend the class. They have Bible class every week and he thinks he will serve better with the knowledge of the Bible. When the piano class first started, there were only three elder brothers in the class. But two of them dropped out in the process and then came two younger brothers. On the testing day, Brother Zhang was a little nervous but after the teacher has pointed out his mistakes, he will be able to play the right melody soon.
At that time, rings the Wedding in the Dream in the church. A young man was playing the piano. After playing the Wedding in the Dream, he started to play hymn Like a deer desires Stream. He is a post 90s(born after 1990) and his name is Tianyou. He knew there is a God but he didn’t know much about Him when he was a kid even if his mother is a Christian. He didn’t know much about God’s words but when he listens to the hymns, he thinks that God is so beautiful and wants to know about Him.
Before coming here, Tianyou had attended a class which teaches both playing the piano and reading the Bible. He wanted to learn more so he came here to study. He lives and communicates with other students, attends the Bible classes and sings as part of the choir. He hopes to improve his level of the worship there and revive the church.
Sister Wang is 49 years old. She used to have asthma so she can only stay at home, but her illness was cured after she began to serve in the church. She could only play the piano with one hand. When she heard the news that there is a class, she came here to improve her piano skill.
Three months later, the elderly brother who used to play piano here couldn't serve for some reason, so she took his place. The church accompaniment needs a four-part play and she has just learned the four-part in the class. She says it it helpful for her. Apart from this, her life has also improved.
