One hundred and fifty years ago, three Yang brothers from Wenfeng Town, Pinghe County, Fujian, received the gospel during the treatment at a church hospital in Xiamen, the province's capital. Then they preached the gospel in Pinghe which became one of the three Christian centers in Minnan or southern Fujian with 15 gatherings before the establishment of the PRC.
On May 26, 2018, around one thousand Christians from villages of Pinghe and other believers who took a six-hour walk to arrive at Wenfeng Church like the early Christians attended the church's 150th-anniversary celebration. In the ceremony, the church gave gifts and money to some financially disadvantaged locals.
