On July 12, the Dalian Xishan Gospel Church held its first worship service since the church has been able to reopen. On the same day, I was happy to receive a copy of Pastor Wu Bing’s new book, “365 Days of Happiness.” Pastor Wu is the senior pastor of the church and vice-president of the Dalian CC&TSPM.

Pastor Wu graduated from Nanjing Union Theological Seminary with a Master’s degree and stayed there to teach. Later he worked as a pastor and he has served the Lord in Dalian churches and the CC&TSPM for the past 23 years. His sermons combine theory with practice and have their own unique characteristics. He has also lectured at Northeast Theological Seminary. He was a scholarly preacher who was welcomed and respected by the student, congregation, and pastoral co-workers.

A good church needs materials for pastors that are systematic. Some of our grass-root churches, especially the township churches and meeting points have some difficulty in shepherding believers and are struggling to find more suitable pastoral materials. Pastor Wu’s “365 Days of Happiness,” published by the National Religious and Cultural Press, is a down to earth evangelical book that includes the wisdom of Pastor Wu’s many years of experience in pastoring congregations. The theme of the book is “Blessings for each day of the year.” It contains a systematic interpretation of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. You can study the contents of the Bible from the beginning to the end. Pastors can use this book for Bible studies, group discussions, and in-depth pastoral work.

This book was written by Pastor Wu after a year of leading a Bible study and contains 365 verses with the word “bless.” “When we read a good book, we feel as we have found a friend. When we read it again, it is as if we see our old friend again.”

Pastor Wu said he would invite those who bought the book to join his  Wechat reading group and use this book for daily devotions next year.
