Zhongnan Theological Seminary in Hubei Province held a thesis defense for 2021 prospective graduates on June 16.

To oversee the process, the seminary organized a committee, whose jury was composed of President Zhu Zhiguo and four deputy presidents. Two defenses were held in the morning and in the afternoon, according to Hubei CC&TSPM.

The whole process contained four parts: thesis presentation, the teachers’ questions, the students’ answers and the judges’ comments. First, within the specified time, the undergraduates in turn each presented their thesis, on which the teachers who assessed the thesis asked targeted questions to examine their degree of proficiency in mastering professional knowledge. After the students responded to the questions, the teachers made comments on their papers, putting forward constructive suggestions for revision.

This year's theses covered systematic theology, Bible studies, church history, and pastoral practice, as well as special topics such as reflections on the COVID-19 pandemic, theological reflections on the Sinicization of Christianity, left-behind children, marriage and family.
