Xiamen YMCA-YWCA provided material assistance to many nucleic acid testing sites in the local community, as Putian and Xiamen City suffered have a second wave of the pandemic since Sept 12.

On September 17, the second round of nucleic acid testing for all people in Siming District, Xiamen, was about to begin. After knowing that the testing point needed mineral water and other beverages, the next day, Xiamen YMCA (Young Men’s Christian Association) & YWCA (Young Women’s Christian Association) of Fujian Province donated 360 bottles of mineral water and 360 cans of Yinlu Milk Peanuts Drink to three testing spots in the Guanren Community on time.

The third round of nucleic acid testing was launched in Xiamen on September 20. After understanding the on-site needs, the fellow workers bought about 60 kilograms of bananas nearby and sent them to two inspection points in the community. In addition, they bought 30 boxes of Yunnan Baiyao Huoxiang Zhengqi water (an herbal supplement) for heatstroke prevention from the pharmacy and sent them to the testing point in Haiwan New City.

In the fifth round of testing on September 25 in Xiamen, according to the feedback from the Guanren Community where the Xiamen YMCA-YWCA were located, the two testing sites lacked some drinks with iodized salt for medical staff to replenish energy and mineral water for staff and volunteers in the afternoon. The staff purchased 68 bottles of drinks with iodized salt in the supermarket near the inspection point, as well as 144 cans of Red Bull vitamin drinks, 240 bottles of mountain spring water, and 38 kilograms of ripe bananas, which were delivered to the sites in the belt-shaped park and Haiwan New City.

In the three rounds of nucleic acid testing, the associations paid 3765.3 yuan for the required supplies delivered to the testing points in Guanren Community.

In addition, lawyer Tu Chongyu, the deputy chairman of Xiamen YMCA and YWCA, donated 5,000 yuan for the pandemic prevention and control supplies.
