Pastoral staff were engaged in a fire drill in China’s southeastern coastal Guangdong Province to safeguard places of worship in Guangzhou.

Guangzhou CC&TSPM carried out a fire safety drill in Fangcun Church on Sept 13, reported the municipal CC&TSPM.

Xie Shaocong, instructor of Guangdong Yue'an Emergency Operations Center, introduced the causes of electrical fires and gas leaks, escape methods in high-rise buildings, how to fight vehicle fires, and how to use fire extinguishers and gas masks. The church staff conducted evacuation drills and operated fire extinguishers. With their awareness of early warning and alarming raised, the pastoral staff’s ability to respond to emergencies and deal with fire dangers was improved.

Lan Zhaorong, an investigator, affirmed the rationality of the case setting and emergency response of the drill, and the work attitude of the participants. He demanded that church leaders highlight fire safety work with the implementation of fire safety measures.

In the next stage, Guangzhou CC&TSPM will do a solid job in fire safety, security, and stability maintenance.
