Chinese archaeologists have confirmed traces of ancient people and their activities at an altitude of 4,000 meters in Qinghai-Tibet plateau in China, which reportedly dating to more than 10,000 years ago.

Qinghai Archaelogical Research Institute in China and Qinghai Normal University's scientists found prehistoric ash layer in Golog Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai three years ago. They just confirmed in Monday that the discovery is indeed evidence that ancient humans used to live and hunt there.

Dozens of tools made up of stones were found in the same site, showing signs of civilization in the said plateau. The evidence was reported to be the oldest evidence of human activity at over 4,000 meters.

Hou Guangliang of Qinghai Normal University said that the discovery is very significant especially to research on how ancient humans cope up with living in extreme environment.
