Chinese Version of 'Beauty and the Beast' Musical Showing Soon

The musical 'Beauty and the Beast' will be getting a Chinese version soon and premiere at Shanghai Disney Resort's Walt Disney Grand Theater this coming summer.
The musical is based on the 1991 animated film classic and first debuted on Broadway in 1994. Since then, it became one of the longest-running and favorite Broadway shows. As of this day, there have been 28,000 productions of the musical in 37 countries around the globe and have been translated in 17 languages.
In China, the live action of the musical has earned wide acclaim and was successful in the local box office.
For the Chinese rendition of the musical, Alan Menken, the one who wrote the score of the musical, shared that new elements were added and local performers will play the characters.
