On Wednesday, the Chinese government supported a very unique cultural event that focuses on the importance of using traditional clothing, especially by the youth and take pride in using it.

The cultural event was called 'Traditional Chinese Garment Day' and was organized by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League (CCCYL) alongside the streaming platform bilibili. The two groups invited netizens to pose their videos and pictures showing them in their traditional costumes and promote Chinese culture and pride.

The CCCYL also posted on its Weibo page that "Traditional cultureis the lifeblood of China and a source of innovation for the Chinese people. We hope young Chinese people can wear their traditional garments during festivals and important occasions, in order to showcase China's unique culture to the world."

Since the initiative was launched, at least 155 million page views were reported for the hashtag #ChineseGarmentDay and many groups have already shared their support for the event.

The organizers also shared that they plan to make the Traditional Garment Day an annual event and set it on the third day of the third month of the Chinese lunar calendar. It would then coincide with the birthday of China's Yellow Emperor.
