People often times use the following verse for the wrong application:
"The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still." - Exodus 14:14
Some people use this Bible verse as an indicator that, because we are on the "sure" team, we will never have to face struggles and fight hard for it. This is absolutely untrue.
Here's something that we need to understand about this Bible verse before we try to live it. The words from God does not mean we do not have something to work for or we don't have an assignment. Moreover, it does not mean that the assigned task will be difficult. It also does not mean that "being still" means doing nothing.
Considering the next verse in Exodus 14:15, it says " Then the Lords said to Moses, "Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on."
In other words, God wants us to "move on" and get going and do what needs to be done. In that verse, the Israelites are noted to have feared crossing the sea but God wants them to keep going.
Israelites were trusting God even if God did not started separating the sea. They had believed that crossing the sea was a better option than surrendering to the cruel Egyptians. This act does not mean doing nothing. They were walking by their faith.
The Exodus 14:14 verse means that if we are moving at the direction of God and if we allow Him to guide us and being an obedient sons and daughters, we do not need to fear the outcome. We do not need to worry as God know what He is doing, we can rest in Him and that we can be "still."
