When God is Near

In the book of Psalms, Christians often find that David was constantly in and out of trouble.  Some people say that Christians who really love the Lord will never be in a difficult place.  But that is not true.

That wasn't true for Moses, for David and even our Lord Jesus Christ!  Our Lord ended up in the most difficult place of all- crucified on a Roman cross for a sin He never did.

However, it doesn't mean that being near God means living a life full of misery, it means that living with God is having a life full of blessings and provisions.

In Psalm 10:1, it says that "Why standest thou afar off, O Lord? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?"

Take example, David's story.

Right after his ascension to the throne where God has appointed him, David has received quite a handful of tests and as a human, he eventually failed them.

David, when he was facing a trial, have felt that God is far away.  As humans, we cannot help but to sin all over again because it is our nature, we question circumstances and sometimes we even doubt God.  However, given the fact that you are in a deep mess, Jesus will never leave you nor forsake you.

V.11 "He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it."

Although David felt that God was far away, it clearly stated that we should not base out judgements on our feelings.

We get emotional sometimes to the point where we are not thinking clearly.  However, experiencing a couple of bad days, weeks or years doesn't mean that God has deserted us.  It means that He is testing us.

When it seems as if God is far away, remind yourself that He is near.  Nearness is not a matter of geography.  God is everywhere.  Nearness is likeness.  The more we become like the Lord, the nearer He is to us.
