Slump in the way

It's that time of the year again, a time or month of the year where most of us feel so detached to what we are supposed to do, we feel all kinds of sadness, anguish, depression and sometimes anxiety.

The reason for that can sometimes be a thing or two from the school or our work, but it is very random and very weird. However, as Christians, we must keep in mind that it is normal to feel that way.

There was this Bible character whose name was Elijah, yes the Prophet Elijah has experienced some very unusual things in his life.

By beating the Queen and proving her wrong for her beliefs and thousands of her priests, Elijah received numerous death threats because he humiliated the queen.

You see, we all experience that too. However, given the circumstances that he was in to, Elijah couldn't think clearly and thus entered into a depression state.  He became sad and scared and he felt so down, he just doesn't want to do anything about it.

But God, did not forget about him. In fact, Jesus took care of him and even used the ravens to feed him while he returned to his sad state.

According to 1 Kings 19:4

But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.

See, he even felt suicidal at that time. His motivation went downhill, and his will to live was fading.  It is normal to feel that way, because we are human, and we feel all sort of things. But the beauty of it is that, we have God to keep our will together.

His depression came after a big achievement that he has accomplished for God's glory.  You see, in this world a lot of people will get angry when we do the right thing for Jesus and finishes it successfully, people tend to get envious of others and we don't have to feel bad about it.

So what should we do when we feel unmotivated?

Elijah did pray, he called unto God, and Jesus showed him great and mighty things

Remember that you are not alone, and it's normal to fall down but we should always stand up right after each fall.  When our legs feel shaky and we feel weak, remember the verse on Jeremiah 33:3 "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."

Each of us has a purpose in this world and if ever we encounter some slumps in the way, always remember that God is with us.

It's not much big of a deal, our God is bigger than any of our problems.
