"Hope you can pay attention to migrant children and let them have hope in migration! " Jeremy Lin appeals to the public in a video focusing on migrant children. The video was posted online on September 14.

The three-minute video -- "Are you a Beijing Drifter" is shot by the group "New Citizen Plan".  It says, "There are at least a floating population of 247 million in China, more than 8 million Beijing drifters and 35.81 million migrant children in the whole country. What are they migrating for?"

The video presents innocent and beautiful faces of migrant children from different places, including some celebrities like Jeremy Lin, who want people to stay focus on the group and make them feel hope.

With urbanizaition, a large number of people migrate to cities for jobs and better residence, which has caused the issue of left-behind children. In recent years, more and more sectors of society start to pay attention to the problem to prevent the growth of further left-behind children and migrant children.

Since the local governments pay for their compulsory education, migrant children don't have the right to receive education funds allotted for them due to the absence of a local residence. As a result, they don't get the same education as their new urban peers and are excluded from the rural education system, becoming a large marginalized group.
As they moving with their parents, they also suffer from mental and physical pressure to grow faster.

The website Henan. QQ. com found out through some investigations that migrant children generally have low education qualifications with poor living and sanitary conditions. They are provided with poor learning conditions and some even have no desk or chair to finish their homework.

Most of them stay at home in leisure, absent from any training workshops and lacking extra-curricular books.

The majority of the marginalized group have many psychological problems: they feel depressed and prejudiced, believing that the city dwellers look down upon them. Many children have a strong sense of inferiority and suffer from intense self-protection and closed consciousness with very formal behavior and introverted  personality, unwilling to contact people.
