A report on Tuesday in Yonhap News suggested that North Korean hackers have targetted critical South Korean databases and stolen a large amount of classified military documents, which includes the recent South Korean-US wartime operational plan.

According to South Korean Democratic Party Representative Rhee Cheol-hee, at least 235 gigabytes of classified military documents were stolen from the Defense Integrated Data Center as noted to Rhee by an anonymous defense official. Yonhap also added that 80% of the stolen data are still unidentified so far and that the attack occurred in September last year.

Pyongyang is quick to deny the allegations according to Yonhap, and they have criticized Seoul for its "fabrication" of claims regarding cyberattacks directed to the country.

In the side of the Americans, the Pentagon stated that they are aware of such reports circulating in the internet, but they would not comment regarding the breach.

"Although I will not comment on intelligence matters or specific incidents related to cyber intrusion, I can assure you that we are confident in the security of our operations plans and our ability to deal with any threat from North Korea," Pentagon spokesman Colonel Robert Manning said in his briefing with reporters.
