On Monday morning, the third child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge has finally been born and it is a baby boy.

According to the announcement of Kensington Palace, both the baby - who weighs 8lbs 7oz - and the Duchess are doing well. No name has been revealed yet for the child. The Duke was present at the birth, which started around 11:01 am at St. Mary's Hospital in Central London.

Bookies are currently betting as to what the boy's name will be with Arthur, Philip and Albert on the top list. Many are expecting the royal couple will opt to use traditional royal names for their third child rather than use modern names that the Middletons are using.

The Palace also announced that the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles, Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and the other members of the family have been informed of the birth and are delighted to welcome their newest member.

The Archbishop of Canterbury and the Church of England has already expressed their congratulations to the couple with the Church of England even offering a prayer to the young royal.

The third child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is unlikely to accede to the throne. Under the current Succession to the Crown Act of 2013, the baby prince will become fifth in line to the throne after his sister Charlotte, brother George, father William and grandfather Charles.
