Additional Airline Routes to Open in Sanya Next Year

The city government of Sanya in southern China announced on Thursday that it is planning to open 15 more international flights to the island province by 2019.

The city is a well-known tourist attraction in Hainan province and this year, it has welcomed 646,300 foreign tourists, up by 14.75% year on year as compared to last year's records.

The city hopes to increase this number to 900,000 in 2019 by expanding the tourism market overseas.

Currently, Sanya has 34 direct air routes that connects it to several foreign cities. With the new plan, it aims to increase the frequency of flights from Russia and South Korea and back, and also add new flights to European and Asian countries.
