On Monday, the Chinese aviation regulator said that China intends to build 450 airports by 2030, doubling its current airport number as part of China's goals to be a strong aviation power.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) made the statement on Monday according to CAAC News. Currently, China has 234 civil airports which is serving the entire nation.

China is expected to become the world's largest aviation market in the next decade with the increase in travelling middle class population and strong government support for the sector fuel demand for flights and airport construction.

Meanwhile, Chinese policymakers are hoping that these infrastructure investments would assist in boosting the economy as it is growing at a slow pace since the global financial crisis began.

In October, the state council announced that the country will be increasing investments for infrastructure to boost domestic demand.

The CAAC also said that they are expecting air passenger traffic to increase and account for a third of total traffic throughout the country.
