Selena Gomez Reveals She Had A Kidney Transplant

Fans of Selena Gomez were shocked as she confessed about why she is missing-in-action for few months this summer. She stated that she was recovering from her kidney transplant, which she needed because of her Lupus.

The 25-year-old actress and singer was forced to undergo a kidney transplant in order to fight against Lupus and to improve her overall health.

 According to a report by Hollywood Life, the "It Ain't Me" singer revealed that she got hew new kidney from one of her best friends from "The Secret Life of the American Teenager,"actress Francia Raisa.

It can be recalled that Selena Gomez has been public about her struggle with Lupus and that this summer, she needed to have a kidney transplant to fight for the disease. This shocking news was revealed by Gomez in an Instagram post on September 14, where a photo of her and her best friend, Raisa in side-by-side hospital beds, holding hands.

"I'm very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn't promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of," she wrote. "So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health. I honestly look forward to sharing with you, soon my journey through this past several months as I have always wanted to do with you. Until then I want to publicly thank my family and incredible team of doctors for everything they have done for me prior to and post-surgery. And finally, there aren't words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful best friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis," Gomez captioned the photo.

Selena Gomez is yet to reveal other details of the procedure and how long she was in recovery. Fans expressed support and love on the post shared by the actress and singer.
