After the Lego Store opened in Shanghai Disneyland and prior to the resort's official opening on June 16, several retailers are now working their way in securing leases in the area in order to gain a share of the expected 15 million visitors that would visit the park for its first year.
British luxury outlet Value Retail has announced further details as to how they will introduce their services to the park goers. The company has covered an area of 55,000 square meters of land, fitting 140 boutique stores and restaurants and it will be called the Shanghai Village. The Village will be located in the heart of the Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone in which the Shanghai Disneyland Resort is also situated.
According to CEO Mark Israel of the Chinese division of the British luxury outlet, they hope to give an "unparalleled experience" for both parents and childrens who would enter the Shanghai Village. The company is now working with various consultants that would help them work their way with China's poor luxury market and increase the opportunities presented by the industry for both the visitors and the people.
Israel's perspective of the Chinese market is shared by Lego China's CEO Jacob Kragh, who stressed that they hope to allow the children to experience the real LEGO experience and build more opportunities for their products to be introduced to millions of Chinese children with their opening.
