Jiangsu Churches Suspend In-person Gatherings Amid COVID-19 Outbreak

In accordance with the requirements of COVID-19 prevention and control, many churches in Jiangsu cities announced a recent halt to services.

Mochou Lu Church in Nanjing last Wednesday informed the public about the suspension of in-person gatherings starting from July 24.

St. Paul Church last Thursday issued a notice stating that all in-person gatherings were to be suspended for a week, while Nantong Diyicheng Church started to close from July 22.

The Ethnic and Religious Affairs Bureau of Liangxi District, Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, released an announcement last Friday to stop all religious activities from July 23 to August 2.

Jiangsu Road Church in Nanjing City last Wednesday announced the suspension of services, following the notice of Gulou District TSPM on the prevention of COVID-19.

As of 6 a.m. on July 20, nine positive cases were found among the staff of Lukou International Airport in Jiangning District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province.

Lukou Street became a closed and controlled area, according to the Nanjing Command Center for COVID-19 Control and Prevention. Xiecun Community, Baiyun Road Community and Shinian Village in Lukou Street, and Maojiaxu Natural Village of Jiutang Administrative Village in Shiqiu Street, Lishui District, were upgraded from low-risk areas to medium-risk ones.
