On April 14, 2019, churches throughout China celebrated Palm Sunday with special services and processionals. The day marks the start of the Holy Week that commemorates Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, death and resurrection.

Clutching branches of palm trees in their hands, the choir members walked into Beijing Gangwashi Church in the special service.

A pastor encouraged the congregation to have a self-denial and sacrificial heart and live a devout and victorious life so that they could share the triumphal entry with the Lord Jesus.

Dalian Fengshou Church of Liaoning cleaned the hall prior to the service. In the service, about a dozen of people decided to follow Jesus before the sanctuary.

In front of Gospel Church in Ji'an, Jiangxi, believers gathered with palm branches and some of them sang hymns to worship God, according to their church tradition.

A few Christians read the Bible verses about the passion of Christ (Luke 23:1-49) in the form of role play. Entitled "The Lord Needs It", the message of the colt that was chosen to serve the Lord was proclaimed.

On this Sunday before Easter, Fujian's megachurch Fuzhou Huaxiang Church launched a series of activities with the theme of "Watch and Pray to Avoid Falling into Temptation".

In North China's Shanxi Province, Linfen Church hosted a thanksgiving service. A pastor explained the significance of the special day from three aspects. Jesus' entry into Jerusalem by riding the colt reflected his omniscience, omnipotence, and glory. She exhorted the participants to prepare their hearts to welcome the glorious Lord to be the Lord and king in their hearts.
