The Soong Sisters are well-known in China for being three of the most powerful women in Chinese politics and economics, being the first ladies of three of the most powerful men in China.
The eldest, Ai-ling (1888-1973), was married to business man and tycoon Kung Hsiang-Hsi (1881-1967). The middle sister, Ching-ling (1893- 1981), married the "Father of Modern China" Sun Yat-Sun (1866-1925) and the youngest Mei-ling (1898-2003) married Kumintang leader and the president of the Republic of China Chiang Kai-shek (1887-1975).
The sisters' contribution to the country's development and their efforts are now featured in the exhibition at the Duoyunxuan Art Center called "The Soong Sisters: Special Memories." The exhibition started on April 28 and will continue until July 31. The pexhibition would feature 300 exhibit pieces which include documents, video recordings, clothing, photographs and artworks collected by the sisters in their lifetimes.
The exhibition is co-presented by the Xinmin Evening news and the municipal management council for cultural relics for Sun Yat-Sun and his spouse, Soong Ching-ling.
