"Passengers" starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt will be shown in China this Friday, January 13. The two leads visited China in December 17 to promote the movie.

According to a report, the global success of a movie can be determined if it does well in China as the country is known to play a crucial role. However, reports added that the China's box office results slowed down during the half of last year.

Despite having Jennifer Lawrence, the star of "Hunger Games," as the lead actress in "Passengers," the film's box-office receipts did not live up to expectations with the moving earning so far $121 million on worldwide exhibition as of Jan. 1 after its pre-Christmas release in the U.S. About half came from its U.S. exhibition, Variety reported.

"Passenger" was already showed on Hong Kong and it grossed only $918,000 on its first weekend behind the "Rogue One."

The film official synopsis says, "A spacecraft traveling to a distant colony planet and transporting thousands of people has a malfunction in its sleep chambers. As a result, two passengers are awakened 90 years early."

The "Passengers" was directed by Morten Tyldum and written by Jon Spaihts.
