Chinese Doctor Designs App To Help ICU Patients Communicate

By M. Grace, February 08, 2017 09:02 AM

A 27-year-old doctor named Sheng Jinghui at Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine has designed a mobile app in order to aid ICU patients to express their feelings and requests.

The app, which was named "ICU Chief Complaint," contains several 28 pictures which helps convey ideas and request to show other people of the ICU patient.

The doctor has made this app since many ICU patients are unable to express their emotions and needs due to their serious conditions. This app will help them plus it won't be time-consuming since there are already choices listed on the app.

"Most patients in the ICU are not able to write. I wanted to find a handy way to communicate," explained Sheng.

According to Sheng, she searched online and found a website to design apps by early January and after four nights of work, she released the earliest version of the app.

"The app is still in test mode. It will be available in the application market once it is completed," Sheng promised.
