Who Will Go for the Prostitutes?

Browsing the web today, I thought I'd see what the church in general is doing for women who are under prostitution. I read two articles since there wasn't much, and I thought, "It's not enough."

Many people who are living in bondage are still crying out for freedom in their hearts. Many women in the entire world are abused. Many are allowing themselves to be subject to prostitution because they wouldn't have any money for survival without it. In India alone, girls who are born in poverty are wed to a deity beginning at the age of four and live their entire lives as sex slaves until the day they die from HIV. But India isn't the only country that has prostitution.

As I thought about this, I remembered what happened in Sodom and Gomorrah, which is found in the book of Genesis. The sexual sins were so great that men blatantly had sex with other men. Even Lot, who was righteous, was in a miserable condition.

Two angels came to Sodom to rescue Lot. Lot found them in the town square and pressed them strongly to stay at his house. But before they went to bed, the Bible says, "But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both young and old, all the people to the last man, surrounded the house. And they called to Lot, 'Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we may have sex with them (Genesis 19:4-5).'" The men of Sodom kept on insisting, finally, Lot said, "Behold, I have two daughters who have not known any man. Let me bring them out to you, and do to them as you please (Genesis 19:8)."

Can you picture the scenario here? Lot was willing to make prostitutes out of his virgin daughters, his own daughters! Now put the same scene in today's society. Nothing much has changed.

God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. No one was spared except for Lot and his family. Why did He destroy these cities? Because they became exceedingly wicked. Can you imagine all the men of the city gathering together to have sex with foreigners?

The people got so consumed by sin and there really was no way out for them back then, but now, Jesus.

Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. When Jesus was here on earth, many prostitutes came to Him and He cleansed them all, washing away all the filth of sin in their lives by his love. Mary Magdalene is said to be among such prostitutes and Jesus cast out seven demons out of her, and she became His disciple.

I wrote earlier that I thought that the church isn't doing enough. I'll explain why.

Prostitution cannot be solved by feeding programs, not even educational programs. I have nothing against such things, I applaud them, but they're not enough. Jesus cast out seven demons from Mary Magdalene before she became a disciple. Do you know why? Because prostitution is a spirit. There are sexual demons that have to be cast out of a person before they are set free from sexual sins and the slavery thereof. This is called deliverance. Provision and counseling help, they're wonderful, but they're not enough. Demons have got to be cast out.

Now, this is not something to be shocked about. The gospel is full of this. Demonic spirits still exist.

And He was casting out a demon, and it was mute; when the demon had gone out, the mute man spoke; and the crowds were amazed. Luke 11:14

When evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and he healed all who were ill. Matthew 8:16

And He went into their synagogues throughout all Galilee, preaching and casting out the demons. Mark 1:39

And He said to them, "Go and tell that fox, 'Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I reach My goal." Luke 13:32

Jesus said that we will do what He did and even greater things. If He helped prostitutes and cast out the demons from them that kept them in bondage to sexual sin, should we not do the same?

In Mark 16:17, Jesus says about us who believe in him that, "they will cast out demons in My name."

Picture this: you as a believer have the power to cast out demons. People under prostitution, women, and even the men, are oppressed by demonic spirits; they are under spiritual bondage and you have the power in the name of Jesus to set them free. What are you going to do?

I believe Jesus is asking, "Who will go for the prostitutes?"
